Hello, well, look, it's around 4 in the morning here in Hawaii on Monday, January 17th, 2005. It happens to be Martin Luther King Junior Day, and it also happens to be wcxp.com's second year anniversary. Yeah, it's hard to imagine that I've made it through two years (and about 1 content update every two months).
So, it's here. If you're reading this, hopefully all of the folders have renamed, everything is updating properly, all of the old files have been cleared, and the Webcenter XP, version 2 is up and running.
It's late, so I don't want to go into too many details, but basically, this site is a lot more streamlined, functional, and easier to use (at least I hope) than the old version. It is written using CSS and fully compliant transitional html 4.01, which is good, it's not some mess that I plastered together using tables like the old webcenter.
You'll notice that there are less sections than before. FPA, Artwork, Reviews, and Rants. This was because basically everything that was made before fit into these categories and there was no point to have a "Anime/Manga" section if there was never going to be any content for it.
So, as a breakdown. FPA is the Funny Picture Archive, speaks for itself, it's basically what 90% of the people come here for. Rants will basically be the same as they ever were, stupid articles written that are funny or just ranting or whatever. Reviews are reviews, for whatever random stuff we review. And artwork will feature any artwork that may deserve to be featured.
There are no "columns" or anything like what existed on the old Webcenter. Everything that is posted on this frontpage will eventually become a rant, and can be commented on be readers and such. This, for instance, will automatically become a rant, accessible through the menu to the left after about 7 days or so. Users will still be able to comment on it after it dissapears off the frontpage. Updates to the other sections will also be announced via this frontpage news thing, and I think it will become clear how everything works once content appears.
Speaking of that, content. All of the old content from the old wcxp.com (Including the 6th grade yearbook picture archive, etc) WILL EVENTUALLY BE ON THIS NEW SITE. Right now my primary concerns had to do with getting the frontpage functioning and stuff, but eventually they will be converted to the new format and re-released, and the automated system will let you know about this through the front page.
Also, there is a "Fresh article" link which will take you to the newest article, although right now it does just about nothing, as of right now there are no "articles" updated into the system.
Blah, I'm rambling, people have already probably lost interest. There are, right now, two other people that will hopefully be writing this site, and you will hopefully see them write over the next few days.
Please check back over the coming weeks as old articles are re-introduced, and some new ones are hopefully added as well.
Well, it's late, and I'm rambling (I know I've said that already), so I'm going to end it here. Hopefully all the links will work, if anything is broken I'll get on fixing it ASAP in the morning. Like I said, besides this post, at the time, there is no other real content on the site, but you will be notified through this page when new stuff is added, so please bookmark and check often!
Happy MLK day, and happy Webcenter 2-year and 2.0 day!
(hitting submit, I sure hope this works!)

look at me, I'm the first geek to comment on the new site, my own site, even! It all worked though, yay.

Wow, those navbars strangely remind me of the pennylane site that I designed and then scrapped.
